What I Think About Samsung LN40C530
Normally I would not order an item this size from Amazon... but I had some present cards and needed a television for the bedroom. I already very own an LN52B550 which I am pleased with. I was deciding amongst this television along with the LG42LD450. I made the decision to pay out the added cash and go with the Samsung.
The primary Samsung LN40C530 Tv arrived in a badly broken box, and also the Tv had a crushed corner when I opened the box. I swiftly filed a return request, and also got Amazon customer support to overnight the replacement (thanks Amazon!). While the damage was not Amazons fault, the packaging with the Tv isn't going to lend itself to shipping. There is very little protection from the thin Styrofoam packing, and although the second set arrived undamaged, the Styrofoam had cracked in shipping around the set also.
In case your tv arrives in cold weather, bring it within to warm up to area temperature to get a number of hours, to cut back the probability of harm from condensation.
Setup in the LN40C530 Television is straight forward, there are lots of options in the menu, and everyone has different preferences, but I setup my Television as follows :
Backlight six
Mode : Film
Colour Temp : Warm two
Colorspace : automobile
Sharpening : 0
All enhancements (Noise Reduction, edge enhancement, Mpeg NR and so forth) : off
I have not had time to perform a much more thorough calibration, but with these settings, the picture is smooth and natural, although a bit on the cool side. This could be tweaked, so its not a massive deal.
The remote control just isn't programmable, so I'm applying the remote in the Fios HD box for now. I'll in all probability obtain a Harmony remote at some point as there several hiccups with modifying inputs together with the Fios remote.
This Tv features a panel code of CN07... that is a lower end panel made by Chi Mei. I don't assume you will have the ability to uncover this decrease end set using a Samsung Panel. Viewing angles seem fairly great, colour is very good (requires some tweakes) and I do not see any back light leakage. I am not utilizing the set for gaming, so i can't comment on lag. The excellent high quality hd channels from Fios (Background HD, Smithsonian) seem terrific, and common def subject material appears ok. I have an upscaling 1080p Samsung dvd player connected by HDMI, and high quality DVD's like Gladiator, Vehicles etc seem fantastic.
The lcd is someplace in in between glossy and matte. I do notice the reflections of lights from in front from the television, however the overhead lights never show up. I personally like it greater than the really glossy screens on a lot of sets.
Sound is just ok in my opinion. Once again, there is only a lot it is possible to squeeze into these LCD's, so it is actually rather on par with what I expected. Stereo separation and bass response are lacking.
I did not get to complete a side by side comparison using the 42" LG, so I can't comment on that set. I feel that at the latest price tag, the Samsung can be a fantastic value.
If you get a Samsung Television, register it on line at the Samsung website for an extension on the 1 yr warranty. Samsung sets of this size are eligible for in-home warranty service.
General, I just like the Television. The red "touch of color" accents are really muted, and you almost certainly won't even discover it if the room is not brightly lit. It is a nice sized, no-nonsense set that will not empty your bank account.
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement rear display housing for my macbook pro?
I've found a few on several different sites but none in both the same size and color I require. I'm looking for a rear display housing in 13'' for the macbook pro in silver or I think the color might be called chi mei. I scratched the top cover of my mac (the part where the apple is) quite badly and I'd really like to replace it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
