will SACD damage a player that does not support the SACD format?
Earlier today i played a SACD (super audio) disc on my BOSE media center and it screwed up...the display panel seemed to become haywire even after powering off and on, its still the same. The audio from the disc however plays fine but its just the lcd display panel seems jammed up. Can a SACD disc damage a player that does not support the SACD audio format???
There is no reason playing an SACD should cause this kind of problem, it just should not play. Since it did play the disc must actually be a hybrid which includes both SACD and CD on the same disc. Check the disc it should say, "plays on SACD and CD players". That being the case, as far as the player knows it just played a regular CD. So, it's probably coincidence that it started acting up at the same time you played this disc. Bose has pretty good customer support so you should call them and let them know what it's doing.
