Finding A Perfect Dining Room Set
Today I planned to shop until I found what I wanted. My friend Jeanne was going to help me pick out the perfect black dining room set. I would not stop to eat or anything till I found it. I wanted to have it ordered, paid for and ready to be delivered and set up in my house.
If Jeanne didn't think the set was a good buy, I wouldn't take it. Her decorating sense was excellent. I often helped her paint and set things in place. She, however was the one with a sense of style. I depended on that expertise today.
As we entered the store, a salesman came over to talk to us. He led us over to where the dining sets were. There were four sets in black. We looked at every set. It was hard to choose from among them.
We both considered one with cushioned chairs and thought it might be the one. It was in light oak though and hard to visualize in black wood finish. We left and headed for the next store on the list. They had a sale going on so it was a win-win opportunity. We chatted about my decorating plans.
She gave me some good advice about paint swatches and curtains. I rather liked the sheer panels with tab tops. I already had a nice Persian rug with green tones. That would go under the table. As we talked I decided round black dining room sets were what we should look at next.
A salesman approached us at the door of the second store. I'm looking for a new dining room set I told the salesman. I just decided one of the round sets would be perfect for the room. I do want one in black wood, I told him. He said he had several on the floor. We walked over to see the selection. It was a good one.
He explained the wood types and matte finish versus shiny finish. Price was important too, but not overly limiting. I wanted to know about special sale prices. He said we could work out a discount if the black set cost over a certain amount. I told him I wasn't basing my decision solely on price. Then I spotted the perfect one out of all the round dining room sets. It had a round pedestal table and six chairs.
He filled out the paperwork and we walked up to the front desk. I got out my plastic and we arranged delivery for the following Friday. I smiled and remarked that I hoped enough credit was left on my card for one stop at a department store.
I laughed and said I wondered if I had any credit left. I needed to buy a new electric rice cooker since my old one was broken. He handed me his card and said come back soon. I promised I would the next time I needed furniture. We left the store and walked to the car to drive back home.
