I had problems with my DSL connection before. A technician was sent in and he worked on it. He worked on a phone jack in the basement where my previous room used to be and the internet works fine if the DSL modem is plugged into there. However, if I bring the modem upstairs and plug it into another phone jack, the connection does not work. Any suggestions?
Most DSL installations require a "splitter" on the phone line. Often, this is just a little "dongle" with a short piece of telephone cord on one end and a telephone jack on the other. The other way is to have a technician connect the splitter at the main cable.
