Acer Aspire AS5251-1805 - A Great Budget Laptop With The Best Selling Price
The Acer Aspire AS5251-1805 is an outstanding budget laptop that is quite equipped to handle routine day-to-day use. We purchased the application from Amazon. com on sale regarding $379, about $100 off the number price. I am an IT student and was needing a new laptop that I could use on a regular basis, both at home and school. The reviews that are positive in Amazon are what convinced me to purchase it.
When closed, the top (back belonging to the display) has a nice carbon-fiber-look deal with. When open, the display bezel is shiny schokohäutige plastic that tends to reflect many light. The keyboard bezel is manufactured to look like brushed aluminum or stainless-steel. The texture even lends to this unique appearance.
The AMD V120 (2. 2 GHz, 64-bit, single-core) processor runs at only 25W and the cooling fan makes very little noise. This is a relatively great and quiet running computer. Even like a single-core, the processor is quite competent for day-to-day use.
It came through 3 GB of SDRAM, which is enough for most purposes, but does never lend to overwhelming performance. The chipset allows for approximately one 8 GB of 1066 MHz SDRAM by installing a pair of 4 GB SODIMMs. With 3 GB with SDRAM, the SODIMMs were mismatched - one 1 GB then one 2 GB, running at different connections.
The processor and RAM combination allow me to run several virtual machines at some time using MS Virtual PC 2007 within the my course curriculum, but overall performance is affected by means of sharing the RAM between what are essentially three to four computers at a time. Because of the, I found it necessary to advance to 4 GB of SDRAM - couple of matched 2 GB SODIMMs running within 1066 MHz.
The Acer Aspire AS5251 HD LED screen is large and clean with good color quality and watching angles. It does not make the actual laptop so large or heavy (5. 75 lbs) that must be inconvenient to carry around in a good backpack. The smooth, shiny surface does usually reflect some light, however.
Graphics are handled well because of the on-board ATI Radeon(tm) HD 4250 Artwork with 256 MB of dedicated strategy memory, and can share up so that you can 1405 MB of system RAM. This will give for maximum resolution of 1366 back button 768. The graphics and screen are relatively capable for many games, as well as viewing Digital video disc and streaming video.
The SATA 250 GB disk drive is sufficient for most uses, but may be insufficient for users with large MP3 libraries or loads of installed games and applications. Due in order to space requirements, I use and outward HDD for my virtual machines intended for school.
The inclusion of a number pad to the keyboard is a nice convenience, but it causes other keyboard to be somewhat off-center. This gets a little getting used to, but may be a minor inconvenience. There is even your flush-mounted multi-touch touchpad.
The laptop has got three USB 2. 0 ports, one around the left, and two on the best suited. It would probably have been more comfortable to have them located on the back. However, since this is a slim laptop, the location of the battery does not allow for just about any ports to be located on the bed.
Also included are HDMI and VGA video tutorial ports, a built-in webcam, Gigabit Ethernet town, microphone and headphone jacks, and multi-card visitor (on the front).
Wi-Fi is works with 802. 11b, g and n principles.
No Bluetooth is included on this unique model, although it may possible to put yourself, if you wish, as the motherboard does are capable for a Bluetooth card.
The multi-layer DVD-Super Numerous DL drive is fast, but to some degree noisy when burning CDs or Dvd videos.
Overall, this Acer is a good, effective budget laptop.

#### Toshiba 14-inch ultrabook prototype
LAS VEGAS--While Toshiba usually has a flood of new laptops every year, the
company surprised us this CES by highlighting a single model.
Even more unusual, instead of a ready-to-ship product, it is a still-unnamed
14-inch ultrabook prototype. The unit we saw had a Satellite logo on it,
rather than the Portege branding we saw in last year's Z835 (a 13-inch
ultrabook currently available for a rock-bottom $799).
