Some tips off the top of my head: Use a plastic scraper not metal to avoid damaging your board. If you don't have a brush, a Scotch Brite pad will do. If you're using a clothes iron (one you won't be using again) to melt the wax, make sure you don't get the iron so hot that the wax smokes.
